Woot Watches Wideos: OK Go and The Rube Goldberg Machines

While you may feel one way or the other about the band OK Go, one thing that can not be denied is their knack for making some pretty amazing videos. The newest video for the song "This Too Shall Pass" is no exception. Check out the mad Rube Goldberg action in the below video.

Crazy, ain't it? We unearthed a few other videos for your early morning viewing, too, just under the cut.Rube Goldberg the man, not the machine, was a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist famous for creating whimsically complicated devices for completing very simple tasks in his drawings. His work has gone on to inspire many to create their own devices for yearly competitions, X-files episodes co-starring Shia LaBeouf, and other media. Most of us of a certain age were first introduced to the concept of a Rube Goldberg Machine by playing the classic board game Mousetrap. Well, "playing" is probably not the word, as I don't think I ever actually played the game so much as just built the mouse-cathing device.

Honda paid £6 million to have this commercial, which took over 600 attempts to film, made with a Rube Goldberg machine made solely from the parts of one of their automobiles. I'm not sure it makes me want to buy one of thier cars, but it does make me want to take one apart and play mad scientist.

This next video comes from a famous 1987 documentary entitled "The Way Things Go". It involves fire, which, as we all know, makes videos a lot more awesome to watch. The flames totally make up for the music the uploader saw fit to put underneath the thing.

What could possibly make a Rube Goldberg machine more fascinating to watch? How about a Japanese man yelling all the play-by-play action at you? And, dude, check out the marble falling into the trunk of that toy cars makes all those company logos appear on the screen.

And, of course, we'd be remiss to not include this piece of the timeless classic "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure".

Any other examples you can think of? The comments are just waiting for your links.
